Notes for market-based scope 2 emissions corporate totals

The table below presents market-based scope 2 emissions totals for controlling corporations that chose to use the market-based scope 2 method for 2024–25. Reporting market-based scope 2 emissions is done in addition to the mandatory location-based reporting.

Reporters that chose to use the market-based method were not required to use the method for all eligible facilities*. Where a corporation reported market-based scope 2 totals for only some facilities, the table shows the percentage of facilities covered. These corporate totals cannot be directly compared with totals that include all facilities.

From the 2025–26 reporting year, reporters that choose to use the market-based method will be required to report it for all eligible facilities.

Location-based and market-based methods for reporting scope 2 emissions are distinct and are not intended to be compared.

You can read more about location-based and market-based scope 2 emissions methods in the voluntary market-based scope 2 emissions guideline.
