Tips for compliant reporting

Follow these tips to help you submit a compliant NGER report:

  • Check the units of measurement before you enter data in EERS. Liquid fuels must be recorded in kilolitres. If your records use a different unit, such as litres, convert the amount to kilolitres first.
  • Remember to consider energy production and consumption, including:
    • when determining whether you have an obligation to report a facility or corporation
    • electricity produced by any new electricity generation infrastructure
    • when reporting venting in the oil and gas sector (include the energy content of the vented gas).
  • Do not report battery energy storage systems as producing electricity. Report only the energy they consume through conversion losses, storage losses and auxiliary system power use.
  • Do not submit reports that contain negative ‘Energy Consumption net’ values for facilities or corporations. If your totals tables show negative values, review and correct your report.
