Our purpose

We're committed to administering schemes and carbon markets that reduce emissions. To achieve this, we:

  • provide education and information on the schemes we administer to make it easy to participate
  • monitor, facilitate and enforce compliance with each scheme
  • collect, analyse, assess, provide and publish information and data
  • accredit auditors for the schemes we administer
  • work with other regulatory bodies and law enforcement.

Our role

Our role is determined by climate change law. We administer schemes that contribute to the Australian Government climate target of reducing emissions to 43% below 2005 levels by 2030 and Net Zero by 2050.
