Waste coal mine gas is no longer eligible under the Renewable Energy Target. This information is for general knowledge of a previously eligible energy source.

We approved 7 applications for the accreditation of power stations using waste coal mine gas as an eligible energy source under the Large-scale Renewable Energy Target.

We determined the waste coal mine gas limit for these accredited power stations until 31 December 2020, as detailed in the table below.

The redistribution of 2008 waste coal mine gas limits

We made a determination under Regulation 20FC to vary the 2008 waste coal mine gas limits for 2016. The determination was made for accredited power stations that applied for the redistribution of 2008 waste coal mine gas limits between accredited power stations.

The 2008 limits for the waste coal mine gas power stations for 2016 were determined to be:
