The Guarantee of Origin (GO) is a cost-recovered scheme. This means you pay assessment fees and a yearly facility levy.

Reduced fees and levies (collectively known as charges) currently apply. Charges may increase when the scheme moves to full cost recovery, which is expected by the 2031–32 financial year.

The Renewable Energy Target (RET) and the Renewable Electricity Guarantee of Origin (REGO) will co-exist until the RET ends in 2030. The current charges broadly align with the RET and will do so until 2030–31 to smooth the introduction of the REGO. But there is an extra fee for enrolling as a registered person.

If you participate in both the REGO and the RET, you need to pay all relevant charges for each scheme.

To learn more about REGO charges, read our Guarantee of Origin Cost Recovery Implementation Statement.

Fees and levies

You must pay fees to enrol, register facilities and create certificates in the REGO. There is also a yearly facility levy to cover administration costs. The levy is currently set at $0.

We won’t start assessing your application until you’ve paid the fees in full.
