We’re seeking feedback on our proposed improvements to the Australian Carbon Credit Unit (ACCU) Scheme project and contract register. This consultation aims to ensure the proposed changes meet data user needs.
Background
We will be undertaking work to improve the content and presentation of the ACCU Scheme project and contract register in 2026. This includes:
- migrating the register to Data Services
- changing the data structure
- updating the way we present information in the register.
Your feedback will be used to:
- ensure the register best supports scheme transparency
- make scheme data accessible and useful for scheme stakeholders
- inform the development of other scheme registers we publish, including the Biodiversity Market Register and the Guarantee of Origin Register.
Who can participate
We are particularly seeking feedback from frequent data users of the register.

Outcomes
We received 9 responses during the consultation period.
Overall, submissions supported improving accessibility, usability and transparency of the ACCU Scheme project and contract register.
There was support for publishing:
- the register as a relational data model while continuing to publish the current flat file structure
- geospatial information in a consistent format with at least one common file type across all geospatial files
- more guidance and interpretative material
- information that is consistent across different views of the project and contract register as well as with other agency registers
- register data from our website to a national platform, such as Digital Atlas, ensuring data published on our website remains the authoritative source and that there is consistency of publication timelines
- monthly ACCU issuance data, ideally providing some back history of data.
