The new reforestation by environmental or mallee plantings FullCAM method 2024 has been made under the Australian Carbon Credit Unit (ACCU) Scheme.
The new method builds on the existing reforestation by environmental or mallee plantings FullCAM method 2014, which expired on 30 September 2024.
Changes have been made to make it easier to participate:
- Project activities such as purchasing seeds, preparing land or planting can begin before the project is declared.
- Up to 20% of seeds can now be harvested each calendar year. This does not limit harvesting in line with traditional Indigenous practices and native title rights.
- Many of the record-keeping and reporting requirements must now be met through a reforestation management plan.
Existing projects under the 2014 method can transfer to the new method by submitting an application through Online Services.

It’s important to consider the method requirements before registering a project under the ACCU Scheme. It is the project proponent’s responsibility to make sure that compliance obligations are met. This includes any risks or challenges that may be associated with conducting method activities, measuring carbon abatement, monitoring, record keeping and reporting.
