We were very saddened to hear Chloe Munro, AO, has passed away after a long battle with cancer. Ms Munro was the inaugural Chair of the Clean Energy Regulator (2012-2017).
Current Chair, David Parker, said Chloe was remembered with great fondness and respect by staff and alumni of the agency. “She was the original driver of our agency and establishing our purpose. We are all heirs and beneficiaries of the very stable platform she created,” he said.
“It’s an incredible legacy and we owe her a significant debt of gratitude. Everything that has been achieved since her tenure has built on her great work.”
Ms Munro dedicated her career to public service and her professionalism was recognised in a succession of challenging roles – all of which she met with steady leadership, good humour and determination.
She was awarded an Order of Australia in January 2018 for “distinguished service to public administration through leadership roles in the areas of renewable energy, water and climate change process and reform, and to the performing arts”.
Ms Munro was previously awarded the Centenary Medal in 2001 for outstanding service to public administration.
In 2018, Ms Munro was also named in Australian Financial Review’s “100 Women of Influence”.
“Our sincere condolences are with her family”, Mr Parker said.
