Acknowledgement of country

Silva Capital Pty Ltd (Silva) acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the first inhabitants of Australia. They are the traditional custodians of this land and have a deep historical and spiritual connection to, and vital knowledge and expertise of caring for Country, waterways, rivers and seas.

We pay our deepest respects to past and present Elders and emerging Traditional Owners of the First Nations communities in which we operate. We acknowledge that past agricultural practices and policies have impacted the social, emotional and economic wellbeing of First Nations people, and in some cases caused irreparable damage to Country, tangible and intangible cultural heritage. We support First Nations self-determination, respect and prosperity and seek to develop projects that provide a platform for celebration of culture and caring for Country.

Silva is committed to Truth Telling of our shared history.

Project description

Silva Capital Cooplacurripa biodiversity project No.1 is covered by the Replanting Native Forests and Woodland Ecosystems (Methodology Determination) 2025. This project aims to restore ecosystems from the major vegetation groups of Eucalypt tall open forests and Rainforest and vine thickets. If this project was not undertaken, the condition of the land would remain static, and the land would remain clear of forest cover (the counter factual scenario). The biodiversity outcome is intended to be achieved within 25 years after the initial plantings.

Biodiversity outcome

The biodiversity outcome for this project is to enhance or protect biodiversity in native species by replanting native forest and woodland ecosystems in the project area on historically cleared land in modified landscapes in a way that will improve the extent and condition of native vegetation or support ecological connectivity.

Project plan

The method covering this project requires a project plan to be prepared. Read more about the implementation of this project in the project plan.

Site assessment report

The method requires a starting state assessment to be undertaken. Read more in the site assessment report for this project.

Location

This project is located in New South Wales. See the project area section for more details.

Variable project characteristics

info

To learn more about variable project characteristics, refer to the Biodiversity Assessment Instrument.

Ecosystem condition

Ecosystem condition is assessed by comparing it to a reference ecosystem and using specific indicators to track progress.

For details on a project ecosystem condition including all information required to be published at the project and activity area level, see the project site assessment report and project plan. As a project reports, they will provide information on progress and changes in ecosystem condition. No project reports are currently available for this project.

Aggregate scores for the project

Each project is required to calculate aggregated ecosystem scores using the National Biodiversity Assessment System (NBAS). These scores enable comparison of projects that involve different activities in different ecosystem types and in different locations across Australia.

Learn more about how scores are calculated.

Score type Starting score Forecast score Expected change
Contribution to biodiversity persistence (per hectare) 0.13 0.17 0.04
Ecosystem condition 0.36 0.45 0.09
Contribution to biodiversity persistence 58.97 74.91 15.95
