The Clean Energy Regulator has responded to the TAI-ACF report alleging integrity issues with the Emissions Reduction Fund’s (ERF) avoided deforestation method.
TAI-ACF’s report is based on a number of false assumptions and demonstrates a serious misunderstanding of the ERF Avoided Deforestation Method.
Landfill gas projects capture and combust gas from waste to prevent the release of methane into the atmosphere. Combusting landfill gas converts methane to carbon dioxide, which is a much less potent greenhouse gas and enables Australian carbon credit units to be earned.
The new Landfill gas (generation) method came into effect on 10 September 2021.
Registration for ERF Auction 13 is open until 12:01 am, Tuesday 5 October 2021 (AEDT). Please note that Daylight Savings takes effect as of Sunday 4 October, and is observed in New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania and the ACT.

The Clean Energy Regulator (the agency) is designing a pilot to encourage the uptake of Emissions Reduction Fund (ERF) projects by farmers and landholders using the environmental plantings method.
The proposed environmental plantings pilot has three components: streamlined registration and crediting, access to a fixed price Australian Government purchasing desk outside of ERF auctions and reduced auditing requirements.
