If you submitted a project registration application on or before 14 February 2023, or have an existing project, you are eligible to apply to qualify for Australian carbon credit unit (ACCU) auction 15. Auction 15 will be held on 29 and 30 March 2023.
To participate you must submit an auction qualification application via the Client Portal by 11:59 pm (AEDT) Tuesday 21 February 2023.
Projects must be declared by 11:59pm, Wednesday 22 March 2023 to be eligible to participate in auction 15.
Why participate in auction 15?
Securing a carbon abatement contract at an auction has a range of benefits:
- Security – assurance of an Australian Government contract while still providing the potential for more lucrative prices to be secured from private buyers.
- Flexibility – contracts have flexible delivery schedules and duration.
- Safety – long term financial security for projects.
- Environmental action – reduce emissions through the scheme.
Each auction is different, with a changing mix of competitors and prices. We encourage you to bid competitively to secure a carbon abatement contract.
Guideline updates and further information
The auction 15 guidelines are available on our website.
Please review the guidelines before participating in auction 15. Applicants with an emissions avoidance project are strongly recommended to understand the changes associated with the Safeguard Mechanism (Crediting) Amendment Bill 2022 and included in the auction 15 guidelines and latest Code of Common Terms.
We are only offering optional delivery contracts at auction 15. Optional delivery contracts offer you the option, but not the obligation, to sell ACCUs to the Australian Government at a set price.
