The Minister for Climate Change and Energy revoked the Avoided Deforestation 1.1 method under the Australian Carbon Credit Unit scheme, previously known as the Emissions Reduction Fund, on 14 February 2023.
The Avoided Deforestation 1.1 method previously credited emissions reductions to landholders who protected native forest rather than permanently converting them to cropland or grassland.
New projects cannot be registered under the Avoided Deforestation 1.1 method. Projects that were already registered under the method are not affected.
