Australian producers, exporters and consumers now have new ways to get involved in the Product Guarantee of Origin (PGO).
This comes after legislation was enacted to make more products eligible in the scheme.
Along with making hydrogen using electrolysis, businesses can now apply if they make, distribute or consume:
- hydrogen using solid gasification or pyrolysis
- hydrogen using gas reforming
- iron ore
- aluminium
- biogas using anaerobic digestion
- biomethane using biogas upgrading.
These changes allow producers to make confident, objective and credible claims across a wider range of products.
Additional products such as low-carbon liquid fuels, other green metals and ammonia are intended to be added as the scheme develops.
