Registered agents, retailers and accredited installers must comply with all requirements under the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES). This includes providing accurate installer onsite verification (IOV) selfies as part of small-scale technology certificate (STC) applications.

Failure to verify information or use of false or insufficient evidence may result in compliance action against the installer, retailer and agent. This action can include removal from the scheme along with civil or criminal penalties. The Clean Energy Regulator has zero tolerance for participants who seek to benefit from the provision of false or misleading information.

Accredited installers must:

  • make sure IOV selfies show the accredited installer who attended the site
  • provide information and evidence that is true and reflects what occurred on site.

Retailers must:

  • verify the IOV selfies record the accredited installer who attended the site and implement controls over the IOV selfie collection and submission process
  • ensure that the retailer declaration, completed and submitted for STC applications, is accurate and reflects verified on-site attendance.

Registered agents must:

  • verify the installer in the IOV selfie is the accredited installer who attended the site
  • demonstrate due diligence verifying on-site attendance and the identity of individuals in IOV selfies when creating STCs.
