Following the recent amendment to the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative) Rule 2015, we have now begun publishing more information on the Australia Carbon Credit Unit (ACCU) Scheme project register.

This is a welcome change that improves transparency and shows how the ACCU Scheme works to accelerate carbon abatement for Australia.

On 21 May 2025, we published the following additional data to the project register:

  • crediting period start and end dates for all projects
  • permanence period start dates for all sequestration projects.

Read our analysis of this data and what it tells you about project timelines.

We will continue to publish the remaining project data in stages over the next 2 months, which will include:

  • more detail on the activities being undertaken by each project to support carbon abatement
  • description of any identified suppression mechanisms and removal of suppressors
  • type of estimation or modelling approach used by the project to calculate carbon abatement
  • modelling start date for each carbon estimation area using FullCAM or Reforestation Modelling Tool to estimate abatement
  • link to any enforceable undertakings made with respect to the project
  • names of all authorised agents or any other person who is significantly involved in a project’s registration or administration
  • details of any additional project information voluntarily provided by proponents.

This extra data will be fully available following the June update to the project register, which will take place in July 2025.
