The Renewable Energy (Electricity) Amendment (Cheaper Home Batteries Program) Regulations 2025 have now become law.
The amendment expands the existing Renewable Energy (Electricity) Regulations 2001, confirming solar batteries to be eligible under the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme from 1 July.
This supports the delivery of the Cheaper Home Batteries Program, the new Australian Government initiative to provide around a 30% discount on the upfront cost of installing small-scale solar batteries.
The amendment will be consolidated with the existing Renewable Energy (Electricity) Regulations 2001 in future. You can view the amendment on the Federal Register of Legislation.
