On 7 November 2024, the Clean Energy Regulator permanently suspended the registration of Universal Exim Pty Ltd under section 30A of the Renewable Energy (Electricity) Act 2000. Universal Exim can no longer create renewable energy certificates.
The decision follows the Clean Energy Council’s (CEC) expulsion of Universal Exim from the New Energy Tech Consumer Code (NETCC) program on 6 June 2024. The CEC expelled Universal Exim because they failed to address and respond to a consumer’s complaint and did not cooperate with CEC’s subsequent investigation.
The revocation or suspension of an accreditation by, or membership of, a clean energy organisation is a matter we must consider when determining whether a registered person continues to meet the fit and proper person requirements under the Act.
We have suspended Universal Exim because we are satisfied that Universal Exim is no longer a fit and proper person.
This decision is effective immediately.
