Consultation on an exposure draft of proposed amendments to the Renewable Energy (Electricity) Regulations 2001 (REE Regulations) conducted by the Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources (DISER) and supported by the Clean Energy Regulator closed on 12 November 2021.
The proposed amendments address the Australian Government’s response to recommendations made in the Integrity Review of the Rooftop Solar PV Sector and aim to:
- give the Clean Energy Regulator powers to approve installer accreditation schemes,
- tighten eligibility requirements for installers, retailers and solar components, and
- improve compliance and enforcement.
The final version of the proposed amendment regulations incorporates some changes to reflect industry feedback, particularly in relation to the commencement of new installer written statement requirements.
The commencement of the new installer written statement requirements, in the proposed amendments, has been moved from 1 January 2022 to 1 April 2022. This is to allow industry participants more time to accommodate the new requirements.
Information on submissions made during consultation and how industry feedback has been reflected in the proposed amendment regulations will be available in due course on the DISER website.
The proposed amendment regulations are subject to approval by the Executive Council. The Clean Energy Regulator will inform industry when the proposed amendment regulations have been made into law. Please subscribe to email updates to keep informed of upcoming changes.
