Version 44 of the register of solar water heaters came into effect on 16 December 2021 and is now available on the Clean Energy Regulator website.
The register lists solar water heater and air source heat pump models that are eligible for small-scale technology certificates (STCs) under the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme.
Visit the register of solar water heaters page to download a copy of the register.
Deeming period change applying to Solar Water Heaters and Air Source Heat Pump
Please note that for the first time in the scheme, the deeming period for Solar Water Heaters and Air Source Heat Pumps will be changing.
As with solar PV systems, the deeming period for Solar Water Heaters and Air Source Heat Pumps decreases by one year for all systems installed after 1 January 2022 as outlined on the register of solar water heaters page on our website. For systems installed in 2022, the deeming period is a maximum of 9 years, one year less than the 10 years for systems installed in 2021. This change will reduce the number of STCs that Solar Water Heaters and Air Source Heat Pumps may be eligible for.
We have updated the solar water heater STC calculator to reflect the upcoming deeming period decrease and help you calculate the number of STCs that a model may be eligible for.
Please visit our website for more information regarding expected capabilities and standards for agents and document and eligibility requirements for STC creation.
