The Clean Energy Regulator’s 2019-20 Annual Report was tabled on 29 October 2020 in the Australian Parliament by Minister for Energy and Emissions Reduction Angus Taylor.
The report captures our key achievements including:
- Carbon abatement from the schemes we administer continues to rise, exceeding 51 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent.
- 15.5 million Australian carbon credit units were issued under the Emissions Reduction Fund.
- The Renewable Energy Target has not acted as a cap on renewable investment – rather the market has maintained investment levels with 6.3 gigawatts total renewable capacity installed in 2019-20 – 4349 gigawatts large-scale and 2294 megawatts in small-scale.
- Carbon markets continue to diversify into new sources of demand, with voluntary surrender of units up 70 per cent on 2018-19.
The report also outlines our performance against our purpose and objectives, our financial standing and the management of our people.
