The Clean Energy Regulator is pleased to announce that the procurement process for the Australian Carbon Exchange and associated Registry services has progressed to the second stage – the Request for Proposal (RFP).
On Thursday 31 March, the 13 companies shortlisted at the Expressions of Interest (EOI) stage were given access to the RFP documentation via AusTender and are now invited to submit more detailed proposals. The contents of the limited tender are confidential and neither the agency nor any of the tenderers can discuss it or provide any further detail on the parties involved.
The establishment of the exchange is expected to make the trading of Australian carbon credit units (ACCUs) simpler, supporting rapidly increasing voluntary demand from the corporate sector by increasing market transparency including pricing, slashing transaction costs and reducing red tape, while accelerating emissions reduction and providing a boost to Australia’s economic recovery.
The RFP is scheduled to close at 2 pm AEST on Monday 30 May 2022, and the exchange is expected to be launched in 2023.
The agency’s Australian Carbon Exchange page will be updated, in due course, as this procurement process progresses.
