DISER consultation on proposed amendments to NGER legislation for 2021–22
The Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources (DISER) is consulting on proposed amendments to the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Regulations 2008 (NGER Regulations) and National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (Measurement) Determination 2008 (the Measurement Determination) that will apply from the 2021–22 reporting year.
Safeguard facility reported emissions for 2019–20 now available
The Clean Energy Regulator has today released the
2019–20 safeguard facility reported emissions data.
In 2019–20, 215 safeguard facilities reported a total of 143 million tonnes CO2-e covered emissions.
Quarterly Carbon Market Report – December Quarter 2020
Highlights
- Emissions reduction from schemes administered by the Clean Energy Regulator reached 53 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO₂-e) in 2020 and is expected to increase to 57 million tonnes in 2021.
- A record 7 gigawatts (GW) of new renewable energy capacity was delivered across Australia in 2020, up 11% from the 6.3 GW in 2019. Of this, 4 GW was large-scale (2.3 GW wind and 1.7 GW solar) and 3 GW was rooftop solar PV.
2019–20 National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting emissions and energy data now available
The Clean Energy Regulator has today released the 2019–20 National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (NGER) data.
Each year, Australian corporations that meet certain thresholds are required to report their emissions and energy information to us. This data helps inform government policy and programs and meet Australia’s international reporting obligations.
Consultation open for the Corporate Emissions Reduction Transparency report
The Clean Energy Regulator invites stakeholder submissions on the Corporate Emissions Reduction Transparency report consultation paper and the Corporate Emissions Reduction Transparency report draft guidelines.
Safeguard baselines table updated
The safeguard baselines table has been updated today to reflect baseline determinations and declarations made under the Safeguard Mechanism.
Information published on multi-year monitoring periods has also been updated to reflect these changes.
