Safeguard Mechanism data for 2021-22 now available

The Clean Energy Regulator has released Safeguard Mechanism data for the 2021-22 reporting period.

In 2021-22, 219 Safeguard facilities reported a total of 137.5 million tonnes of covered CO₂-e scope 1 emissions.

Safeguard facilities used a range of options to meet their obligations, including applying for a multi-year monitoring period (MYMP), and surrendering Australian carbon credit units (ACCUs) to manage their emissions.

All Safeguard facilities met their obligations by the 28 February 2023 deadline.
