The Clean Energy Regulator (CER) welcomes 6 new companies to the 2023 Corporate Emissions Reduction Transparency (CERT) report, following the successful pilot last year.

The 2023 CERT report will include 26 large Australian companies. Together, these companies represent 21 per cent of scope 1 emissions reported to the CER in 2021-22.

Participating companies represent a broad cross-section of the Australian economy. This includes companies from the energy, manufacturing, mining, retail, financial, transport, construction, and research sectors.

The CERT report provides a snapshot of companies’ climate-related commitments, progress, and net emissions position using a standardised, internationally aligned framework. It centralises companies’ climate-related information and data in one place, making it accessible to consumers, investors, and the public.

The CERT report offers:

  • insights on how companies are using Australian and international carbon offsets towards their emissions reduction claims
  • an overview of companies’ ambition and progress, including their emissions (scope 1, 2 and 3 where relevant) and renewable electricity use
  • increased transparency on key targets and metrics, using data verified by the CER or independently assured by a suitably qualified practitioner.

Participating in the CERT report helps build capability and understanding of climate-related reporting in Australia.

The CERT report will be published in June 2023.
