The Clean Energy Regulator (CER) has published its Compliance and Enforcement Priorities for 2022-2023.
These priorities set out where CER will be focusing its compliance and enforcement activities for the year ahead. They target several areas of actual and potential non-compliance that pose a high risk to the integrity of the programs administered by the CER.
The priorities apply to participants across all of CER's schemes including the:
- Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES)
- Large-scale Renewable Energy Target (LRET)
- Emissions Reduction Fund (ERF)
- National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (NGER) scheme
- Safeguard Mechanism.
The CER takes non-compliance, fraud, and other criminality seriously, and will actively pursue scheme participants who break the law.
The CER is committed to administering its programs in a transparent and accountable manner. This includes helping participants to understand the rules so they can comply with their obligations, educating those who want to do the right thing, and deterring, detecting, and responding to non-compliance. The CER also works in partnership with other agencies and stakeholders to enhance the integrity of its schemes.
