The Clean Energy Regulator has today launched the new soil carbon simple guide.
It is the first of a series of new products designed to provide landholders with an easy-to-understand user guide to running a soil carbon project.
Executive General Manager, Ms Shayleen Thompson, who today presented the first copy of the user guide at National Regenerative Agriculture Day in Bungendore NSW, said it is one of the ways we are making it easier to participate under the Climate Solutions Fund.
“Soil carbon projects work hand-in-hand as part of the regenerative agriculture story which is reshaping farming all across Australia,” Ms Thompson said.
“We hope this guide will help people start their Climate Solutions Fund soil carbon journey, and de-mystify some of the steps to setting up and running a project.”
In general, across the Australian land mass, soil carbon levels are in decline. This means there are significant opportunities to build up soil carbon levels. This can be done running a soil carbon project and changing land use from cropping to pasture, reducing stock numbers or adding certain types of fertiliser.
Our new simple guide will provide landholders with a step-by-step guide on how to register, run and report on a soil carbon project.
The soil carbon user guide is only the first of many simple guides to come. We will be rolling out more of these over the coming months to help people run an emissions reduction project and reduce their carbon footprint.
About the Climate Solutions Fund
The Climate Solutions Fund builds on the Emissions Reduction Fund and offers landholders, communities and businesses the opportunity to run new projects that reduce or remove greenhouse gas emissions from the atmosphere.
