We are pleased to announce that the 12th Emissions Reduction Fund (ERF) auction will be held on 12 and 13 April 2021.

2020 has seen a large increase in interest and participation in the scheme with more individuals and organisations getting on board to diversify their income and reduce emissions. The recent 11th auction secured the highest volume of contracted abatement purchased since 2017, committing $100 million to mainly regional and rural communities.

The registrations of ERF projects have doubled in 2020 compared to 2019 and a record amount of Australian carbon credit units (ACCUs) have already been issued this year. This is a great outcome for the carbon market and this result sets the scene for a competitive 12th ERF auction.

The 12th ERF auction will provide you the opportunity to secure a Commonwealth contract for your ACCUs with a variety of contracting options available.

Register your project now

Project registration is now open for the 12th ERF auction. While the auction itself might seem some way off, to participate in this auction it is important you register your project and submit a project registration application by midnight, 18 February 2021. You are encouraged to submit your application early to ensure that any questions we may have can be addressed before the auction.

To help you with your project registration, please familiarise yourself with your project methodology. You can use our interactive questionnaire to find out if your project is eligible to participate in the Emissions Reduction Fund.

If you have a registered project, then simply submit an auction qualification application by 2 March 2021.

Consider the contract that best suits you

This auction continues to offer the flexible contracts in the form of Optional Delivery and Fixed Delivery contracts.

You can also choose to take up an immediate delivery contract or a partial contract that covers a proportion of your project’s ACCUs.

With the two contract types, a range of contract durations and choice in how many ACCUs you wish to cover with a Commonwealth contract, you can tailor your contract to best suit your needs.
