On 4 March 2022, the Clean Energy Regulator (the agency) announced current holders of fixed delivery contracts will be able to pay an exit fee to be released from fixed delivery obligations to the Commonwealth under a new initiative offered by the agency. Additional information was released on 9 March 2022, which announced feedback will be sought on how to ensure fair sharing of the financial benefits that result from exiting fixed-contract delivery obligations.

Consultation

The agency has published a consultation paper seeking feedback on the proposed framework for the benefits sharing arrangement. Details on the consultation process are available on the Consultation hub, including the required submission coversheet and details on how to submit.

Consultation opens on Tuesday 29 March 2022 and closes 5 pm AEST Monday 11 April 2022. The benefit sharing arrangements will be finalised in late April 2022.
