The purpose of this regulatory advice is to clarify the application of lamp circuit power (watts) factor calculation, for projects using the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative—Commercial and Public Lighting) Methodology Determination 2015.
Lamp circuit power means the electrical power drawn by a single lamp and its associated control gear. The lamp circuit power for a lamp that is of a type listed in Schedule 3, and is connected to the control gear of a corresponding type specified in that Schedule, is specified in that Schedule in watts.
In identifying the lamp and control gear type to determine the lamp circuit power, only equipment attached to the individual lamp should be taken into account. That is, if a control gear is not attached to the individual lamp but is attached to the entire lighting circuit, then in identifying the appropriate lamp and control gear combination in Schedule 3, the control gear not attached to the lamp must not be regarded.
As an example, for the calculation of lamp circuit power for a lamp with magnetic ballast and voltage reduction unit control gear (Schedule 3 – item 36), the magnetic ballast and voltage reduction unit control gear must be attached to the individual lamp. Where the voltage reduction unit control gear is connected to the entire lighting circuit and not the individual lamp, the voltage reduction unit control gear should not be taken into account when selecting the appropriate item in Schedule 3 to apply.
